Who we are:
Spott Community Association has been established for a number of years now. We are a registered charity and our main role is to enable the use of our Village Hall for the community by fund raising and managing the building. The Hall is available to rent for a range of activities such as parties, weddings, meetings etc. We also provide a focus for local projects and concerns, feeding into the Community Council when appropriate.
How do we operate?
Our Management Committee consists of local people and we hold public meetings as required – at our AGM the Charity Trustees are elected by Members. Anyone in the villages of Spott and Little Spott can become a full member of the Association. Residents outside this area can become associate members. Click here to become a member
The Future
Village hall bookings are robust and it continues to be a focus for the Community. Popular events have been the New Year Ceilidh and the annual summer Fete.
Community Right to Buy
Our Association currently has the land between the Village Hall and the Church on the CRTB register in Scotland. Our hope is that we can purchase this land on behalf of the Community and develop it into green space/amenity land – a Village Green to be held in Trust for the Community.
Community Asset Transfer
The East Lothian Council currently owns the village hall and the Scottish Land Fund has provided a grant so that a feasibility study can be completed to help decide if community ownership of the hall is the best way forward.
